So, I can finally reveal the reason why A Song A Day hasn’t exactly been the most regular of blogs recently. I’ve been working on a new campaign for Last.fm entitled Now Form A Band. It’s a “campaign for better music” that we hope will kickstart a new DIY music revolution.

As the founders state in the manifesto: “We’re here to call for better music. If you don’t like the music that’s thrown at you, then get out there and do it yourself. With the tools and methods we’ll show you, there’s no reason why you can’t make it.”

Techcrunch have written a bit about it already, and we’re confident that it’s going to be catalyst for some great music. There’s going to be lots of great content on the site, with the likes of Alan McGee contributing, plus interviews with bands who are getting out there DIY fashion, and making something of their music without the help of traditional industry. Plus the blog is just the starting point for an exciting campaign that’s going to explode in the coming months - so keep any eye on it!

As a result of the work I’m doing on that blog, A Song A Day is now going to be a place for me to stick more general music-related musings. But it’ll still be worth reading!
